The School of Mathematics and Statistics successfully conducted a four weeks programme “Annual Foundation School – I” from 6th May – 1st Jun 2019. This programme is sponsored by “National Center for Mathematics (NCM)” a joint center by IIT Bombay and TIFR Mumbai. The programme mainly targeted the first year Ph.D students in Mathematics.

The programme consisted of 48 Lecture Sessions (1.5 hrs duration) and 48 Tutorial Sessions (1 hrs Duration).  The topics from Algebra, Analysis and Topology were covered with great depth. 

There where 12 Speakers 7 outstation (from IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, ISI Delhi, IMSc Chennai, CMI Chennai, HRI Allahabad and BITS Goa) and 5 local (School of Matheamtics and Statistics). It also had 12 Tutors/Course associates.

A total of 35 participants from research institutes (IITs – 4 , ISI – 1, NITs – 5, IIITDM – 1 RKMVERI – 1);  Central/State Universities/Colleges (UoH – 5, CUK – 3, CUSAT – 2, MANUU- 1, Manipur University – 1, Bharathidasan University – 3, VSKU – 4, Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham- 1, St Xaviers College – 1, HITS – 1, BITS – 1) registered for this programme.
