Talk by Rachakonda Commissioner of Police, Sri Mahesh Bhagwat, IPS at UoH

Sri Mahesh Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda has delivered a talk on “Doing things right, when no one is watching you” on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 (28th October – 2 November 2019) at the University of Hyderabad on 1st November, 2019.

In his talk Mahesh Bhagwat emphasised on Ethics and Integrity. He mentioned that corruption is reduced with the increase in technology like E-Procurement, E- Enforcement, E-Challan. CCTCs have taken over and reduced corruption too.

Ease of doing Business through single window scheme like Meeseva has also increased which ultimately has reduced the conflict in the offices. He also mentioned that the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 Sec 7 & 8 has landed fear on both individuals one who is accepting and one who is offering bribe as it includes 7 years Imprisonment to the persons involved. Later he also administered the Integrity Pledge to the audience.

Mahesh Bhagwat also presented certificates and cash awards to the winners of competitions organised in the university as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2019    

Pro-Vice Chancellor 1, Prof. Arun Agarwal presided. Vice Chancellor 2, Prof. B. Raja Shekhar introduced the speaker. Public Relations Officer, Ashish Jacob Thomas gave the welcome address and Deputy Registrar, Sai Jawahar proposed the words of thanks. Dr. Shree Gyanmote compeered the event.
