Puja Banerjee, a final year student of first batch of Integrated M.Sc. Earth Science, at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been selected for ‘International Master of Research in Solid Earth at IPGP (Institute De Physique Globe De Paris), France.

The IPGP is considered to be the 2nd largest CNRS Institute in Earth Sciences in France and also globally recognized institution in Marine Geology and Geophysics. The objective of this Master Research is to train top-level exploration geophysicists, who will then go-on to carry out research either in academia or in the industry. The selection process is on global competition, in which IPGP; Paris invites applications once a year and selects just 10 students for this programme. This research program is entirely supported by a fellowship grant provided by top leading petroleum industries including Shell, Schlumberger, CGG, Mines tech Paris institute, etc.

Puja Banerjee is currently pursuing final year Master’s course in Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science, School of Physics. During the course period she has undertaken several internships and projects at Indian premier institutes including IIT Bombay, and finally as part of 5th year dissertation work, she has carried out work on Exploration of Gas Hydrate resources in offshore region of Krishna-Godavari Basin at CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography, Goa under the guidance of Dr. G. Sriram, NIO and Prof. K.S. Krishna, UoH.
