Thahir Jamal KM, Ph.D. research scholar at the School of Humanities, University of Hyderabad has been selected to the Summer School Programme to be held at the University of Antwerp, Belgium from 25 Aug to 1 Sept 2019.  The Summer School on Religion, Culture and Society focuses on religious change, mobility and materiality in the global context. Thahir Jamal will be presenting his ongoing research on “Changing landscapes of religious discourse: Muslim mobility in South India” in the programme.

Thahir Jamal is also invited to present his research at the Herrenhausen Symposium on “Positioning the Humanities in the 2020s” to be held at Hanover, Germany from Sept 10-12. He has been awarded travel grant by Volkswagen Foundation to attend the Symposium.

Currently, Thahir Jamal KM is working under Prof. MT Ansari at the Centre for Comparative Literature. His inter-disciplinary research focuses on the engagements of Muslim community with colonial and post-colonial state in South India, musing on the jurisprudential developments. His M.Phil dissertation from Centre for Comparative Literature was centered on the media initiatives and the changing political subjectivity of Muslims in Kerala.
